Throwing on Potter's Wheel - Beginner Level

This course is suitable for those who want to learn to make pottery on the potter's wheel. It is suggested (but not mandatory) that you finish the Hand-building Course before you take this course.

In this course -

• You will learn to center the lump of clay on the potter's wheel.
• You will learn to make cylinders and trim their base.
• You will learn to modify the cylinder into forms like V shape and pitcher shape.
• You will learn to make bowls and trim their base.
• You will keep up to 8 objects for firing and glazing.
• You will learn to glaze objects with simple glazing techniques, suitable for the beginner level.
• You will also understand what is required to set up a small home studio space to practice throwing on a potter's wheel, recycling clay, etc.

No. of students in a batch - 3

Duration - 16 sessions (3 hours per session)

• 13 sessions with the instructor (12 throwing sessions + 1 glaze session)
• 3 practice sessions (without the instructor, to be scheduled at the mutual convenience of the student and the studio) - 
  • These 3 practice sessions can be used during your batch or within 2 months of the last session of the batch. 
  • These 3 practice sessions include the studio time and clay only — no glazing, firing, or shelf storage space included. 
  • Use these sessions to hone your throwing skills, check on your progress, increase the weight of the clay lump, and push your limits.
• We offer weekday and weekend batches. Select the type of batch that suits you best. The dates and times of the various batches are listed below in the 'Date and Time' section.
