This course is suitable for students who have completed Throwing on Potter's Wheel - Beginner Level - Part 1, or who already have equivalent wheel-throwing skills.
What will you learn?
In Part 2, you will build on your understanding of centering, opening, pulling and trimming to work with wider and more complex forms.
You will learn to:
- Throw bowl forms using different bowl-opening techniques.
- Trim bowl forms.
- Create altered rims on bowls.
- Pull and attach handles at the rim.
- Throw small plates and trim them.
- Throw a pitcher form by combining cylinder and bowl throwing techniques.
- Create a spout or pouring lip on the pitcher.
- Pull and attach a handle to the pitcher.
- Keep up to 6 objects for firing and glazing.
- Glaze your objects using simple glazing techniques suitable for the beginner level.
Prerequisite
You must have either:
- Completed Throwing on Potter's Wheel - Beginner Level - Part 1 at Craft So Sublime; or
- Equivalent wheel-throwing experience, including the ability to confidently center, open, pull and trim basic cylindrical forms.
If you have learnt wheel throwing elsewhere and are unsure whether your current skills are sufficient for Part 2, you can attend a short assessment session, that is chargeable. The assessment fee will be adjusted against the Part 2 course fee if you enroll.
